Restore Inner West Line calls for Lidcombe to be included on the new Sydney Metro West line.
Lidcombe in the Cumberland Council area is the gateway to the West and South West for public transport commuters being a key interchange on the T1 Western, T2 South, T3 Bankstown and T7 Olympic Park lines.
Commuters at Lidcombe have already suffered from the 2013 cuts to trains with the removal of the Inner West Line – City to Liverpool via Regents Park and City to Bankstown via Regents Park services.
Transport for NSW’s own documents indicate that Lidcombe station is one of the most overcrowded sections on the Western Line which has worsened since the 2013 train cuts.
Without improved public transport services and increased services/connections for the Lidcombe area linking the Bankstown Line and Olympic Park, the new Metro West line will be a white elephant.
We call on Transport for NSW, Premier Gladys Berejiklian, Transport Minister Andrew Constance, Auburn MP/Opposition Leader Luke Foley, Shadow Transport Minister Jodi McKay and Cumberland Council to support Sydney Metro West services for Lidcombe and the Cumberland Council area in addition to the restoration of Inner West Line services to Liverpool and Bankstown via Regents Park.
Lidcombe has already missed out once for improved public transport with Stage 2 of the Sydney Metro stopping at Bankstown, therefore the new Metro West line must be incorporate Lidcombe as part of a holistic public transport in Western/South Western Sydney.
