Liverpool/Bankstown via Regents Park to reduce T3 shutdown disruption

Restore Inner West Line calls on the NSW Government and Transport for NSW to reinstate the City to Liverpool (and Bankstown) via Regents Park train service in light of the T3 Bankstown Line closures and Sydney Metro construction between Sydenham – Bankstown.

It is unnecessary that commuters west of Bankstown outside of the Metro construction zone to lose train services especially as stations such as Lidcombe, Berala and Regents Park receive no benefit from the Sydenham – Bankstown Metro line.

Lidcombe, Berala, Regents Park, Sefton, Chester Hill, Villawood, Leightonfield, Carramar… along with Birrong, Yagoona and Bankstown deserve to have direct train services to the City and Inner West at all times regardless of the Bankstown Line closure and Metro construction.

The restoration of the former Inner West Line route services including Liverpool via Regents Park and Bankstown via Regents Park is the best solution to minimise disruption caused by the Bankstown Line shutdowns from 2018 onwards.

The proposed Temporary Transport Strategy for the T3 Bankstown Line during Metro construction as outlined in the Sydenham to Bankstown Environmental Impact Statement Overview. Transport for NSW has been asked to clarify the track alignment between Regents Park and Sefton/Birrong.

The Inner West Line cuts made at Homebush in 2013 have already proven to be ineffective in improving the Sydney Trains network with the line now extended to Parramatta.

Trains timetabled to terminate at Homebush should continue to Lidcombe, Berala, Regents Park then all stations to Liverpool or Bankstown.

Train frequencies between Liverpool, Lidcombe and Bankstown should be at least 4 per hour.

Buses should service City to Sydenham – Bankstown stations affected by Metro construction, with services operating at 5-10 minute intervals during peak times and at 10-15 minute intervals during the off-peak.

The Bankstown Line must also continue to service all stations between Liverpool, Lidcombe and Bankstown once the Sydney Metro opens in 2024.
