Sydney Train Network Under Attack from State Government

Since 2013, the commuters and public transport of Sydney and surrounds have been subjected to continuous attack from the NSW Liberal State Government with cut after cut to trains.

Tell Premier Gladys Berejiklian enough is enough, oppose all cuts to train services in New South Wales!

Starting with Premier Barry O’ Farrell, then Transport Minister Gladys Berejiklian followed by Premier Mike Baird with Transport Minister Andrew Constance and now Premier Berejiklian, the number of communities and suburbs losing train services is rapidly increasing.

The following is a list of stations that have lost at least 1 or more heavy rail line and/or have services reduced.

2013

Inner West Line (Liverpool via Regents Park removed, Inner West Line truncated at Homebush): Flemington, Lidcombe, Berala, Regents Park, Sefton, Chester Hill, Leightonfield, Villawood, Carramar, Warwick Farm, Liverpool

2015

2018

2023

Bankstown Line (Sydenham to Bankstown): Marrickville, Dulwich Hill, Hurlstone Park, Cantebury, Campsie, Belmore, Lakemba, Wiley Park, Punchbowl, Bankstown

And this is what we know so far… 49 stations adversely affected by the decisions of the current NSW Liberal State Government. 14 stations have had 98% – 100% of their line’s train services removed. 11 stations have had train services majorly reduced to the extent that Transport for NSW acknowledges it as a significant issue. 13 stations will be rebuilt despite currently being fully operational forcing commuters onto replacement buses.

Gladys Berejiklian implemented the WORST DOWNGRADE IN A GENERATION in 2013 and now as Premier with the assistance of Transport Minister Andrew Constance has promised a so-called “More Trains, More Services” program that will in fact result in less trains and less services for many existing communities and suburbs.
