EXCLUSIVE: Western Line upgrade dumped by Gladys Berejiklian to force more drivers onto the M4 WestConnex to increase toll revenue.
Documents obtained by Restore Inner West Line show the Cumberland Council area is the worst affected by cuts to Sydney Trains services.
History shows that the Liverpool via Regents Park train (former Inner West Line) opened in 1924 to reduce congestion on the Western Line between Lidcombe and Granville. The government’s decision to cut the Liverpool via Regents Park route in 2013 has increased overcrowding on the Western Line.
Sydney transport is a mess. Premier Gladys Berejiklian is presiding over a total frenzy of private toll road building that is sucking billions out of public transport for generations to come.
Cumberland Council has passed motions for fast trains at Lidcombe, Auburn, Clyde & Granville and the Inner West Line restored for Berala & Regents Park
The new train timetable fails to deliver for the Cumberland Council area, in particular with Lidcombe, Auburn and Granville losing fast trains and Berala and Regents Park continuing to be worse off with the failure to restore the Inner West Line
The new train timetable penalises people living in Western Sydney with commuters facing longer journey times, fewer stops and fewer direct services.
The slower trains and less direct services timetable has rolled out across the Sydney Trains network much to the disgust of commuters.
The new 2017 timetable isn’t more trains, more services but rather slower trains and less direct services!
There’s no improvement under the new timetable for Berala commuters. It’s time to restore the Inner West Line to Liverpool/Bankstown via Regents Park!
