Today’s announcement of the Inner West Line (Liverpool via Regents Park) restoration starting on 21 September 2024 is due to the tireless efforts of our community in Lidcombe, Berala, Regents Park, Sefton, Chester Hill, Leightonfield, Villawood, Carramar, Warwick Farm, Liverpool (and also Birrong, Yagoona, Bankstown).
It is through the efforts of West of Bankstown commuters that our stations have not been permanently closed in 2024 and that some direct services to City Circle via Inner West Line are being restored from 21 September 2024 onwards.
Let us not forget that Transport for NSW originally planned for all stations in the West of Bankstown to be without a train to Central (shuttle between Lidcombe – Liverpool – Bankstown) and at worst not to have a train station at all (shuttle buses only).
Restoring the Inner West Line (City to Liverpool via Regents Park) is from our community’s efforts since 2013 NOT the construction of Sydney Metro Southwest.
