Marching through Sydney today, over a thousand protesters including Restore Inner West Line made their issues with New South Wales’ public transport clear including WestConnex, the lack of train services and bus privatisation.
We call on the State Government and Opposition to prioritise the following infrastructure projects for the Strathfield – Lidcombe – Bankstown – Cabramatta – Liverpool areas.
More downgrades, cuts to trains and slower services to the City for many stations from the Inner West to South West Sydney in the new timetable
Most stations between Liverpool and Bankstown still have large service gaps of 30 minutes and multiple interchanges are still required at Birrong and Lidcombe stations
Liverpool will lose 30% of fast train services to the City under the new timetable and won’t receive any improvements from the Sydney Metro at Bankstown
Reinstating the City to Liverpool/Bankstown via Regents Park train is the best solution to reduce disruptions caused by the T3 Bankstown Line shutdowns
The Bankstown Line closure forcing commuters onto buses, removing City trains for 9 stations and rebuilding 11 stations is all for nothing.
With significant cuts to train services announced for the Bankstown Line, Sydney Trains must clarify its commitment to commuters in the affected areas. Restore Inner West Line has asked Howard Collins about the future of the Bankstown Line especially for non-Metro stations.
City to Bankstown via Regents Park trains (and vice versa) must be reinstated to replace Bankstown Line services between Bankstown and Sydenham due to Metro
