The Lidcombe to Cabramatta link opened on 14 October 1924 to form the Inner West Line’s City to Liverpool via Regents Park train service
History shows that the Liverpool via Regents Park train (former Inner West Line) opened in 1924 to reduce congestion on the Western Line between Lidcombe and Granville. The government’s decision to cut the Liverpool via Regents Park route in 2013 has increased overcrowding on the Western Line.
Instead of More Trains, More Services – the new 2017 timetable is slower trains and less direct services especially in comparison to the 1930s
In 1930, Berala to City: 22 minutes direct train. 2017: at least 32 minutes and a forced interchange at Lidcombe. Time to #RestoreInnerWestLine now!
