The new 2024 Timetable is a missed opportunity to restore Bankstown to City via Regents Park on Inner West Line.
Transport for NSW is urged to include Bankstown to City Circle via Regents Park services on the Inner West Line as part of the new 2024 Sydney Trains timetable.
As per the internal Transport for NSW documents obtained by the Restore Inner West Line & Save T3 Bankstown Line community action group, and now reported by the Sydney Morning Herald; the 2024 timetable will see the following changes for the West of Bankstown:
- 4 trains per hour: Liverpool to City via Regents Park (Inner West Line excluding Birrong & Yagoona)
- 4 trains per hour: Bankstown to Lidcombe (T6 Line shuttle including Birrong & Yagoona)
- 16 trains per hour from Lidcombe to City Circle (including the 4 services from Liverpool via Regents Park)
It is noted that capacity exists for 4 additional services between Lidcombe and City Circle, and that Bankstown to Lidcombe also has 4 trains per hour.
Therefore, the Sydney Trains Network has the capacity to restore the direct train from Bankstown to City via Regents Park on the Inner West Line.
Benefits of restoring the Inner West Line: Bankstown to City via Regents Park includes providing a direct train to Central from Birrong/Yagoona and also ending forced interchange at Lidcombe for commuters in the West of Bankstown.
