Restore Inner West Line & Save T3 Bankstown Line – January 2022 Update

Thank you for your support in our fight to improve services. Despite our recent success in securing a commitment from the NSW Government to partially restore trains in the West of Bankstown area, the long term future of transport services is far from certain.

We remain concerned with Transport for NSW’s internal plans to replace a number of West of Bankstown train stations and services with bus. Birrong and Yagoona remains at risk of closure as the NSW Government has failed to commit to providing direct train services to City Circle and Inner West.

Our campaign will continue in the fight for direct access to the City Circle and Inner West for all stations in the West of Bankstown area. We are also calling for station upgrades and NightRide bus services at all stations especially Carramar, Villawood, Chester Hill, Birrong, Yagoona.

Transport for NSW is urged to release a draft of the T2 Inner West/Leppington Line and T3 Bankstown Line timetable for the West of Bankstown area in 2024 (once Sydney Metro Southwest) opens as soon as possible for community consultation.

It is also disappointing that Sydney Metro is continuing to refuse to release the exact walking distance for commuters to interchange between Bankstown Train Station and future Bankstown Metro Station.

We will continue to seek to meet with Transport for NSW representatives to seek the best outcomes for the West of Bankstown area including the preservation of the Bankstown Arts Centre (earmarked for demolition due to Metro Southwest extension tunnelling from Bankstown to Liverpool) and for more information regarding the future Regents Park interchange.
